Ingredients

8 oz (225 g) high-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped

1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream

2 tablespoons espresso coffee, brewed and cooled

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature

1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

1/4 cup (30 g) finely chopped roasted coffee beans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Melt the Chocolate: Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until just simmering. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes to soften.

Mix Until Smooth: After the chocolate has softened, whisk the mixture until completely smooth. Add the brewed espresso and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.

Incorporate Butter: Add the softened unsalted butter to the chocolate mixture and stir until it's fully incorporated. This adds an extra layer of richness to your truffles.

Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1-2 hours, or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop and shape.

Form the Truffles: Once chilled, use a small cookie scoop or a spoon to portion out the ganache. Roll the portions between your palms to form balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

Dust with Cocoa Powder: Spread the unsweetened cocoa powder on a plate. Roll each truffle in the cocoa powder until well coated. If using, sprinkle some finely chopped roasted coffee beans on top of each truffle for extra flavor and crunch.

Chill Again: Place the finished truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to firm up.

Serve and Enjoy: Once chilled and firm, serve your decadent espresso chocolate truffles on a beautiful platter. Enjoy them with a cup of coffee or as a sweet treat any time of day!
