Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper (red or green), diced

2 cups chicken broth

2 tsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, jalapeños

Instructions

Sauté the Aromatics: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened (about 5 minutes). Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Brown the Turkey: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground turkey to the pot. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and oregano. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until it is browned and cooked through (about 6-8 minutes).

Add Beans and Tomatoes: Stir in the black beans and diced tomatoes with their juices. Pour in the chicken broth and stir well to combine all ingredients.

Simmer the Chili: Bring the chili to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Stir occasionally and adjust seasoning to taste.

Serve: Ladle the chili into bowls and garnish with your choice of optional toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or diced jalapeños for some extra heat.

Enjoy: Serve hot with crusty bread or over rice for a complete meal. Enjoy the comforting and flavorful warmth of this hearty chili!
