Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons Sriracha

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Tofu: Start by pressing the block of tofu between paper towels and a heavy object (like a cast iron skillet) for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, about 1-inch pieces.

Coat the Tofu: In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture until fully coated. Shake off excess cornstarch.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the tofu (you can check by dropping a small piece of tofu; it should sizzle).

Fry the Tofu: Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet. Once done, transfer the tofu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the Sriracha Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir until the mixture is well-combined and heated through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Combine Tofu and Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, gently toss the crispy tofu bites in the Sriracha honey sauce until they are thoroughly coated.

Serve: Plate the crunchy Sriracha honey tofu bites and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy them warm as an appetizer, snack, or even as part of a main dish!
