Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 large eggs

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Olive oil spray or cooking oil for frying

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prep the Green Beans: Rinse the green beans under cold water and trim the ends. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Set Up Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan cheese if using.

Coat the Green Beans: Dip each green bean first into the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the green bean with the panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

Fry the Green Beans: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) or prepare a deep fryer. If using an oven, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray it with olive oil. Arrange the coated green beans in a single layer on the baking sheet and spray the tops lightly with olive oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. If frying, heat oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C) and fry the green beans in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on a paper towel.

Serve: Once cooked, transfer the crispy green bean fries to a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side for a refreshing zing. Enjoy immediately while hot!
