Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to spice preference)

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Chickpeas: After rinsing the chickpeas, spread them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Pat them dry to remove as much moisture as possible; this helps achieve maximum crispiness.

Season the Chickpeas: In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Add the chickpeas to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the spice mixture.

Air Fry the Chickpeas: Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Cool and Serve: Once cooked, remove the chickpeas from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Enjoy: Serve your crispy sweet and smoky chickpeas as a snack, salad topper, or appetizer. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days (though they are best enjoyed fresh)!
