Ingredients

1 medium cucumber, finely grated

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed and chopped (for added flavor)

Instructions

Prepare the Cucumber: Begin by grating the cucumber. Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible. This step is essential to avoid a watery dip.

Mix the Base: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and sour cream. Stir until well blended.

Flavor the Dip: Add the finely grated cucumber, chopped dill, minced garlic, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the yogurt-sour cream mixture. If using capers, fold them in at this stage.

Season: Season the dip with salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything together until well combined and creamy.

Chill: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve: Once chilled, give the dip a final stir and transfer it to a serving bowl. Garnish with additional dill or cucumber slices if desired. This dip pairs wonderfully with pita chips, vegetable sticks, or as a spread on sandwiches.
