12 oz spaghetti

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed

1 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Extra basil leaves for garnish

Cherry tomatoes, halved (optional, for garnish)

Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining the spaghetti.

    Prepare the Alfredo Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

      Add the Cream: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet, stirring well with the garlic. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

        Incorporate the Cheese: Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese to the cream mixture, stirring continuously until fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using).

          Blend in Fresh Basil: In a blender, combine the fresh basil leaves with a little bit of the Alfredo sauce (about 1/2 cup) and blend until smooth and vibrant green. Stir this basil purée back into the skillet, mixing well with the sauce.
