Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups beef broth (or water)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Rice: In a medium saucepan, bring the beef broth (or water) to a boil. Add the rice, cover, and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Cook the Broccoli: While the rice is cooking, steam the broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Set aside.

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add Ground Beef: Increase the heat to high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula, until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.

Season the Beef: Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and allow the beef to cook for another 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Combine Ingredients: In the skillet with the beef, gently fold in the steamed broccoli and cooked rice until everything is well combined.

Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low, and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef, broccoli, and rice mixture. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions. Divide the cheesy beef and broccoli rice bowl into serving bowls and enjoy your delicious meal!
