Ingredients

1 large head of green cabbage

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 cup cooked rice

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Cabbage: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and immerse it in the boiling water for about 5-8 minutes, or until the outer leaves are tender enough to peel off. Set aside to cool.

Make the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. In a large bowl, combine the sautéed onion and garlic, ground beef, cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.

Prepare the Rolls: Carefully peel off about 12-15 cabbage leaves. Place a leaf on a flat surface and spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the stem end of the leaf. Roll it up tightly, folding in the sides as you go. Repeat with the remaining leaves and meat mixture.

Cook the Rolls: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a generous layer, spread half of the tomato sauce on the bottom of a large baking dish. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam side down in the dish. Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the tops of the rolls, ensuring they are generously covered.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and the beef is cooked through. (Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes for a little browning if desired.)

Serve and Enjoy: Once out of the oven, let the rolls rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your savory cabbage rolls warm!
