Ingredients

1 cup fresh blackberries

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water (for simple syrup)

1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)

2 cups cold water (for diluting)

4-5 fresh sage leaves

Ice cubes

Lemon slices and extra blackberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool.

Prepare the Sage: While the syrup cools, wash the sage leaves. In a separate small bowl or glass, muddle the sage leaves gently with the back of a spoon to release their oils.

Combine Blackberries and Sage: In a blender, add the fresh blackberries and muddled sage. Blend until smooth. If desired, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds, but this is optional.

Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and the blackberry-sage blend. Stir well.

Add Cold Water: Pour in the 2 cups of cold water to dilute the lemonade to your desired sweetness and tartness. Taste and adjust sugar or lemon juice as necessary.

Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes, then pour the blackberry sage lemonade over the ice. Garnish with extra blackberries and lemon slices if desired.

Enjoy: Sip slowly and enjoy the delightful balance of sweet blackberries and herbal sage in this refreshing drink!
