Whole wheat tortillas serve as the foundation for our Avocado BLT Wraps, providing a nutty flavor and a satisfying texture. Unlike traditional white flour tortillas, whole wheat tortillas are made from whole grains, retaining the bran and germ that are often stripped away during processing. This means they are higher in fiber, which aids in digestion and helps keep you feeling full longer. Fiber also plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy heart and regulating blood sugar levels. Additionally, whole wheat tortillas contain more nutrients, including vitamins B and E, iron, and magnesium, making them a healthier alternative for those mindful of their dietary choices.

Ingredients

4 large whole wheat tortillas

2 ripe avocados, halved and pitted

8 slices of crispy bacon

2 cups fresh baby spinach

1 medium tomato, sliced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

Prepare Avocado Mixture: In a medium bowl, scoop the avocado flesh and mash it with a fork. Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste. Set aside.

Cook Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let them drain on paper towels to absorb excess grease.

Prepare Tortillas: If you prefer warm tortillas, briefly heat them in a dry skillet for about 10-15 seconds on each side until soft.

Assemble Wraps: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on each tortilla (if using). Then, spread a generous layer of the mashed avocado onto each tortilla.

Layer Ingredients: On top of the avocado, start layering the cooked bacon, fresh spinach, and tomato slices. If desired, sprinkle garlic powder over the ingredients for added flavor.

Wrap it Up: Carefully fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it up tightly from the bottom to top, securing the filling inside.

Slice & Serve: Cut each wrap in half diagonally and serve immediately, or wrap in foil for an on-the-go lunch option.
