2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 cup peeled and diced apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Cinnamon Swirl Filling:

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze (optional):

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

      Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

        Incorporate the Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

          Fold in the Apples: Gently fold the diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.

            Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl Filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.

              Layer the Batter and Filling: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl filling evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the remaining cinnamon swirl filling. Use a knife to gently swirl the mixture with a few strokes to create a marbled effect.
