Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup beef broth or water

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Mix well and allow to marinate while you prepare the vegetables (about 10 minutes).

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and beef broth. Set this sauce mixture aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, until the beef is browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

Stir-Fry Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a touch more oil if needed. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, broccoli florets, and sliced red pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine: Return the beef to the skillet along with the prepared sauce. Stir to combine everything. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and vegetables.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
